Birdhouses & Brushes

I'm very new at stencilling, so new I haven't even applied any to the decorative birdhouses I build from scratch. I'd like to know what's popular with decorative birdhouse buyers.  For the moment, I am using pallet wood for some of my houses and "front boards" (single boards that look like the front of regular birdhouses, with fake holes holding decoration moss, raffia, and straw, etc. for effects.) I will also sometimes make my own "stucco" using acrylic paints and mix them with hobby sand. Is it possible to stencil designs on this kind of finish?

I started making decorative birdhouses as a means of making money year 'round. My primary business is creating handmade creches from scratch and scrap.  Would it be feasible to use stencil designs on white or off-white colored "stuccoed" walls?

Finally, I have a limited budget and would like to know what a good price range for brushes would be for someone just starting out.
