Chris Inanc of New York is not only a great friend of mine, but also one very talented lady when it comes to painting on stone surfaces. Chris does all of her pavers and signs freehand, but you could certainly use stencils if you are not as confident as Chris when it comes to freehand painting. I recommend using DecoArt
Patio Paints
for this type of project, since this paint is made to endure the elements and can be used on stone/cement surfaces.
Here Chris pays tribute to pets who have passed away:

This painted slate sign hangs on a stable door.

This house number would be a great idea for a house warming gift!

And lastly, this idea has inspired me to grab a rock or two and paint them for my Dad and Grandmother's graves... hopefully by Memorial Day!
Chris says that the painted rocks should be used inside only because they chip very easily. She recommends using pavers for outside use as they hold up much, much better!
Beautiful work, Chris. Thanks so much for sharing!

This panel, designed and painted by Tasha Cough of Fancy Paints, was a residential commission by an Armenian family. This panel says "bless this house" in Armenian.

This is a huge room and Tasha also hand painted some cherubs and clouds on the ceiling.

The following three rooms were submitted by Denise Kilpatrick of Stencils by Denise Distinctive Decorative Painting.
In this Powder Room, Denise created her own stencil design to closely match a wallpaper pattern her client had seen.
Denise stenciled an accent wall in this bedroom using Royal Design Studio's Damask All Over Repeat Pattern. The side walls were ragged off stripes and
the coral corner stripes met at the center of the ceiling like a circus tent top.
The red metallic scrolls in this foyer were stenciled over a ragged off background using Stencil Ease's Spiral Scroll stencil design.

Stenciling We Love: Day 20
This Rubber Duck Shelf was stenciled by Linda Robinson using stencils from LA Stencilworks, American Home Stencils, and Buckingham Stencils.
Linda says "This project was a lot of fun because my client was trying to make the best of her recent divorce and new condo by personalizing her new space and making it completely hers. She loved the idea of the nylon stocking hanging to dry on the shelf, and the illusion of the transparent nylon was fun to do, too."
